To keep the Leak Detection System in optimal condition and to meet our client's IT cybersecurity needs, a software update was implemented through our partner LUNA (OptaSense) and Apollocom's specialized staff. Because Microsoft announced that Windows 7 would no longer be supported, the customer was informed about potential problems, and it was decided to update the system.
Challenge
The need to update the Windows 7 operating system, which would no longer be supported, posed cybersecurity and operational risks. We informed our customer about these risks and it was decided to proceed with the system update to avoid future problems.
Solution
We manage the software update with a detailed program so as not to affect the operation of the system. A full backup was carried out before installation and the manufacturer's procedures were followed to avoid the loss of information at all stations of the gas pipeline, which covers more than 240 km. The installation was carried out by our specialized personnel with the remote support of a brand specialist from the United Kingdom.
